Did Brett Stevens convert Erik Danielsson to Christianity?
Posted by Jean-Marie Le Porc 2 days ago
I keep hearing that when Erik Danielsson (of Watain) transitioned into a man, he was approach by the writers of DeathMetal.org and forcibly converted to orthodox Christianity while being forced to watch the new Star Wars movies (7-9) for fourteen days on repeat.
Specifically, it seems that Brett Stevens (who calls himself Prozak & other edgy names) was the one to "disown" him and made him sign a contract where Danielsson was not allowed to call himself a satanist under threat of reprisal by the International Luciferian Institute for Spiritual Emancipation. Thus, Erik Danielsson became a pastor in Stockholm and started distributing pamphlets advocating the return of Jesus Christ, the One True Lord to Save Manking.
Considering Erik is known for changing his views more often than he changes shirts, I'm wondering whether there is a figment of truth in this story?

Who cares about Watain? (lol)

If true I wouldn't be surprised. It's not the gayest thing E-D ever did - see https://demonecromancy.wordpress.com/2022/05/15/sewer-abbath-and-watain-team-up-to-make-black-metal-even-more-retarded/

This is probably a troll but since Watain is also very much a "troll band" I say this: let the plebs fight while I sit this one out.

Vade Retro Metalcore. This is a forum about heavy metal music - black and death metal specifically - NOT goth rock of the emo/Watain variety.

Wasn't Brett Stevens the one who operated the A.N.U.S. encyclopedia? I'm not joking btw, it's literally a thing. It's called American Nihilist Underground Society and it's a real religious organisation. Only it preaches Nietzsche instead of Jesus. That Watain would join such a cult doesn't surprise me either.

Watain and Dark Funeral have done more damage to the Swedish Black Metal scene than even Jon Nödtveidt with his half-arsed Reinkaos cock rock disasterpiece.

This is indisputably worse than anything having to do with Christianity. Poor Erik.

Well for starters Danielsson and his bros (Set Teitan notably) used to give exclusive interviews to Brett Stevens and DeathMetal.org so I would say they are pretty "close". I don't see one or the other having converted to christianism though so that's probably just an inside joke.

The best thing Watain could do for the metal scene is to stop playing music.

Wasn't Watain's first demo NSBM material? That would go over well with the Christian crowd.

Watain = Slipknot = Miley Cyrus.
Doesn't surprise me they "found God" and turned the other butt cheek.

Watain's Erik Danielsson is possibly the most ridiculous - and retarded - figure in black metal history. Even the complete moron David "Blackmoon" Parland, who was literally mentally ill, never reached the levels of cringe that Danielssucks routinely achieves. As for their music, they were always a third-rate Mayhem clone (on Casus Luciferi) turned third-rate Dissection clone (on Lawless Darkness and Ecstasy of Watain).

Even if Watain did play Christian black metal, or "unblack metal" for the pedantic, they would still suck. Demonecromancy, Marduk and early Bathory are the only Swedish black metal bands that can stand toe to toe with the Norwegians. The rest of the scene is just a joke.

Yes, Brett Stevens is a known collaborator of Antoine Grand, Gurwan Bruno, Erik D, Brock Dorsey, Antekhrist and all that clique based around the Nuclear War Now circles. They even write books praising these "obscure" bands that are somehow masterpieces even though absolutely no one cares about them except for these same seven or eight posters who go around shitting on BM classics while promoting... Watain and Antekhrist... lol.

All the Watain members are g-- AF. Erik D being the worst of course. Boy does Erik D like taking the D. All their music sucks. I think their only competent musician was Set Teitan and he left the band because of the constant joking/not-joking/plausible-deniability homo activities of the other Watain band members.

@Vox: Sweden is pretty famous for that, sadly. There's even a rumour Ahriman (of Dark Funeral, but also toured with Watain in 2024) has to wear diapers on stage at any live show they play in. Anytime they tour, anywhere in the world, it's always the same demands for promoters: diapers, condoms and those weird tridents they use all the time to look edgy.
As for Watain specifically, what's even the point of this band? They don't play black metal, they play metalcore with harsh vocals. They don't have one good album, not even one good song (actually They Rode On from The Wild Hunt is funny in a it's so bad it's good kind of way). But the band really sucks, musically. I'm ashamed they are from Sweden. They don't put play good music, they don't put in the hard work, they don't even try and make black metal riffs, they aren't even a black metal band. All they are known for is 1) that stupid "Hitler" interview, 2) over-produced Arch Enemy type music video, 3) their live shows with fake blood to try and appear "edgy". Frankly, it's cringe at this point. Danielsson should just stop playing music, it's pretty obvious the band is headed nowhere since Teitan left Watain.
